Rhode Island Cliff Walk, Mystic Pizza, & Ice Cream

We woke up around 8:30 and left for the airport to pick up our rental car. The whole process was surprisingly easy. We just hopped in the car that the woman told us to and then once we got out of the garage, we had to show someone our ID, and that was it. Then we were off to Newport, Rhode Island to do the cliff walk. We stopped for breakfast at IHOP, which was surprisingly delicious. After about an hour we parked at Easton‘s Beach, which was about half a mile away from the cliff walk.  The parking area was pack and there was red tide at the beach. Cliff Park was cool. You could hardly see the mansions, which was one of our main reasons for going there.  About halfway through the walk just after the Breakers mansion, Mom and Tyler decided to take the trolley to get the car while I continued along the trail towards the more dangerous terrain. 

The more dangerous terrain was pretty much just walking on slippery rocks, however, about three-fourths the way through it started getting pretty scary and people were having to turn around because the rocks were jagged and it was hard to get a grip, especially if you weren’t wearing the right type of shoes. One thing I do have to say, if you do wanna do the cliff walk in Rhode Island, definitely where sneakers with traction and probably wear some type of pants. Once I finished up around the last house, Mom and Tyler picked me up and we drove on Ocean Avenue, which was gorgeous. The houses all had personality and they were boats everywhere on the water with their sails up. 

Well, Tyler slept most of the car ride, Mom and I listened to music, and talked about all the pretty houses and cool spots we had seen. We drove on to Mystic, Connecticut going on the side roads so that we could see small towns. Finally around 5:30, we arrived in Mystic and we parked right outside of Mystic Pizza. Earlier in the day, there was a Como Village festival going on. It’s crazy how we picked the one day a major festival is going on to visit this small town!

 We got in fast and sat at a cute little booth. Mom had the sangria and Tyler and I just had some soda. We had fried onions and artichoke hearts for appetizers, which were both amazing. Then we split three small pizzas called the Meatza, the Hawaiian, and a simple sausage and mushroom pizza. They were very tasty with a good cheese, sauce, and bread ratio. Tyler’s favorite was Hawaiian while my mom's was the meatza.

After dinner, we drove to the hotel in New London, CT. We watched the new Jumanji and ate some ice cream from a local creamery before passing out early at around 10 pm. Now I finally understand why Nicolas Cage owns a house in Newport.
