Banana Bread, Beacon Street, & The Boston Red Socks
Today was our last day in Boston. My mom woke up early and had a deep tissue massage where a small lady walked on her back and as she put it essentially beat her black and blue. She woke Tyler and me around 10:30 and we decided to walk to a small breakfast cafe around the corner from our hotel. There was about a 45-minute wait so we decided to go into Flour Bakery next door for a quick coffee and treat. I had an iced vanilla latte and a slice of banana bread which we all couldn't stop eating.
Finally, our table was ready at The Friendly Toast which was the perfect eclectic vibe for our morning. Tyler had the chicken and waffles while Stace and I shared the breakfast Monte Cristo sandwich. It was delicious and full of ham and cheese on a croissant topped with a fried egg and laid on a velvety cheesy hollandaise. Hello, yummy goodness! Ty’s was good too.
From there we took a trip to Beacon Hills where we went to a delightful bookstore that was a converted brownstone. It had 4 floors of books as well as a cafe that had a mini entrance. It was very fun. We continued to shop for a little bit. On the way back to the hotel we toured Boston Commons. We sat on the bench from Good Will Hunting and met a local Bostonian who feeds the squirrels. She had a 5-pound bag of nuts. The sweet little squirrels will come up and take food out of her hand. She even named at least five of them.
A small nap then off to Fenway Park. The streets were full of people and vendors while the sun was setting overhead. We had hot dogs and chips and pretzels and all the essentials you need for a good ball game. To be honest, the food kind of sucked ass. The buns were soggy, the pretzel was hard and flavorless, and the chips were all crushed and blah. The game was amazing though. The Houston Astros were up one run until the 8th inning when we finally got a run in. At the top of the ninth, we held him off but we couldn't seem to score the winning run. Finally in OT in the 10th inning, we won the game! The crowd was loud and people were singing left and right.
After the game, we got an Uber home and decided to watch My Oxford Year on Netflix while packing for Newport and Mystic tomorrow! Overall it was a really fun day!
