Sour Yogurt, Art Museums, and Dumpling Cafe

Today was the first day it felt apparent that my dad wasn't here. We woke up early and went to Cafe Nero, which had okay coffee and okay cinnamon buns but not much else. My mom got their yogurt parfait, which she very quickly regretted. Tyler got a bagel, which he described as hella mid. Then, on our way to grab the T, Ty and Mom got Chick-fil-A.

We ate and then got right onto the subway. It's extremely jerky but really interesting to see all the different types of people. It's a lot easier to navigate than the New York subway. We rode to the end of Terminal E and back because they had an express behind us that made us miss our stop but honestly, I didn't mind.

Finally, we got off at the Boston Museum of Art and it was incredible. Tyler took a nap most of the time on a chair up front but once we told him we were going to the Van Gogh Museum, he was up and Adam. Afterward, we decided to color a Van Gogh postcard which I took way too seriously. Then we left and got the university pizza special which was pretty good; not the best pizza but good for the price. At this point, we were all pretty tired, irritable, and argumentative. We took the T to the Prudential Center, got Boston t-shirts, and then went back to our hotel.

We passed out quickly and woke up around 6:30 PM. The worst part of a family trip is trying to make everyone happy, especially when we are all interested in different things. Even through the ups and downs of today all in all I think we all had a good time.

We ended the day off in Chinatown where we had amazing pork & chicken dumplings, pork buns, Taiwan wonton soup, crab Rangoon, and scallion pancakes. The restaurant we went to was called Dumpling Café and I would recommend it to anyone looking for good Chinese food. Finally, after stuffing our faces we Ubered home where we met our best Uber driver of the day. She told us about Mike's cannolis, the Northside which has amazing Italian food, and James Hook & Co for a great lobster roll. On our way back to the hotel we saw the set and filming location for Donnie Wahlberg‘s new movie which was cool.

Finally back at the hotel we watched the new Karate Kid movie and passed out. It's hard knowing my dad's not here and that when we want to do different things, we can’t split up like we used to. I think about how he would have hated the pork buns and would have made a disgusted face that would make us all laugh. His laugh could diffuse a situation all on its own. I'm learning how to miss him and keep on living. Day 3 was not for the weak.
